About the Role

Reporting to the Supported Employment Manager, the post-holder will provide operational support of the delivery of supported internships. A supported internship is a work-based learning programme for young people aged 16-25 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The role involves overseeing various aspects of the supported internship programme, you will also be a key point of contact for the operational team, ensuring that as a host business, we are delivering supported internship programmes successfully and in line with statutory requirements. You will be responsible for various business support functions to ensure effective delivery of the programmes.

The role is pivotal in coordinating the delivery of employment support services for young people with SEND. This involves actively engaging with supported employment partners, educational settings, young people and their families/carers, and other professionals to ensure positive outcomes for young people with SEND. Overall, the Supported Employment Officer plays a crucial role in facilitating a collaborative and effective approach to meeting the diverse needs of individuals with SEND in the Haringey community.

About You

The Supported Employment Officer has a multifaceted set of responsibilities. They are tasked with providing administrative and operational support for the Haringey Council supported internships. This includes, supporting partners, operational duties and programme referrals to ensure employment outcomes are achieved.

You will also take on the role as the DFN business liaison across the project search programmes and support the employment manager to increase council-wide project support, provide feedback and collaborate with SEND coordinators and external partners to increase the number of young people enrolling on supported internship programmes. Overall, the Supported Employment Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring young people with an EHCP are being referred to supported internships and are transitioning into sustainable employment.
