Project Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will manage and execute engineering projects from concept through to completion. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to deliver mechanical engineering solutions that meet client expectations and company goals.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that designs are functional, efficient, and cost- effective, while meeting safety standards and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Project Management: Lead mechanical engineering projects, from initial design through to final commissioning, ensuring that all project objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.
* Design and Analysis: Assist in the development of project-specific detailed mechanical designs, where required. Responsible for checking of mechanical design documents to ensure project-specific compliance.
* Vendor and Contractor Co-ordination: Collaborate with suppliers and contractors, oversee procurement of materials and components, and ensure all outsourced work meets project requirements.
* Testing and Commissioning: Organise / manage testing and commissioning of projects, including management of performance requirements, as required.
* Budget and Cost Control: Track project costs and budgets, making adjustments to ensure projects are completed within financial constraints. Provide regular updates to management on project status and financials.
* Risk Management: Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation plans, and implement strategies to avoid delays or failures.
* Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, reports, risk assessments, and compliance records throughout the project lifecycle. Organisation of H&S Files, CCP’s and ITP’s.
* Client and Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders. Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to all parties involved.
Other Responsibilities:
* Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to ensure projects incorporate the latest innovations.
* Participate in onsite and off-site meetings along with teams meetings with clients suppliers, contractors and key stakeholders, providing input on project decisions and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure compliance with local regulations, as well as company-specific safety and environmental policies.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, structural engineers, and site managers to ensure seamless project integration.
Job Requirements:
* Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mechanical project engineering, preferably within manufacturing, construction, or industrial sectors.
Technical Skills:
– Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, NavisWorks, or similar).
– Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials science, and
thermodynamics.
Project Management: Proven experience managing projects, with a good understanding of project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and methodologies.
Certifications: PMP or PRINCE2 certification is advantageous but not required.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Other Requirements: Willingness to travel to project sites as needed, and the ability to work flexible hours based on project demands.
